William Bartelli Obituary, Death – Waterford William Otello “Bill” Bartelli Jr. passed away on June 3, 2023, at his home in Waterford. He was surrounded by his devoted family and Phyllis, the person who brought the most joy into his life. On November 15, 1941, he was welcomed into the world by his parents, William and Laura Bartelli, who resided in New London. When Bill and Phyllis Vendetto first met in 1958, it was at the Capital Theater; this was the beginning of their love affair. They tied the knot on June 18th, 1960.
It’s clear that Bill’s feelings for Phyllis never faded because he’s still sending her love letters after all these years. Bill’s enormous and loving family brought him the most happiness throughout his life, especially his grandchildren, who improved his existence beyond anything he could have imagined.Bill was a member of the United States Navy, worked as a supervisor in the NQC Inspection department at Electric Boat, was a co-owner of Cornucopia Market in Mystic, and, after retiring, was a co-owner of Capital Uniform & Supply in Waterford.
Bill was dedicated to his country and served it honorably. He was the fire commissioner for the Town of Waterford, and he got the American Legion Award for Dedicated Service in addition to the very first Public Service Award that was ever given out by the Secretary of State in the year 2001. He was a Renaissance man who has a wide variety of skills and interests.
His most recent hobby, complex leather work, was one of his many interests, including photography, the collection of automobiles (63 to be exact), riding motorbikes, going boating on The Seven B’s, and more.On the 20th of July, at six o’clock in the evening, there will be a Celebration of Life held at the Italian Dramatic Club in New London. This was his wish. The day of his passing, June 3, is bittersweet because on that same date in 2014, Halle, Bill’s granddaughter, went into remission from her illness.
