Thelma Reddick Obituary, 93, a lifelong resident of Carthage has passed away

Thelma Reddick Obituary, Death – On Saturday, June 3, 2023, Thelma Reddick, who had spent her entire life in Carthage, passed away in the house that she had resided in all her years. She had 93 years under her belt. She was born in Carthage on November 7th, 1929, and her parents, Joshua Eldridge and Lola Francis (Fannin) Stephens, both of whom have since died away. She was the daughter of both of her parents.

The year 1947 was the one in which Thelma received her graduate from Carthage High School. She enjoyed a variety of activities, such as gardening, keeping a bird journal, quilting, and attending antique and garage sales, where she would buy more glassware to add to her collection. In addition to this, she enjoyed spending time on Lake Lemon on the pontoon boat and indulging her more daring side by going for rapid journeys on her husband Gene’s motorcycle. Both of these activities were quite enjoyable for her.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Jim) Zimmerman, of Bedford; granddaughters, Amanda (Frank) Miller of Indianapolis and Emily (Andy) Fortner of Orleans; great grandsons, Jaxon Miller and Beckett Fortner; great granddaughter, Annily Fortner; a brother, Robert (Julia) Stephens; and a large number of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a large number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Robert Stephens, who was to have been her husband, passed away before she did.

Bobbie Eugene “Gene” Reddick, Thelma’s husband, as well as her four brothers and two sisters, passed away before her. Thelma was the last surviving member of her family. Her parents were the first members of her family to pass away before any of her other relatives. Funeral services will be held at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in Knightstown on the afternoon of Monday, June 12, 2023, at 2:00 o’clock. The funeral home is located in Knightstown. The burial will take place at the Glen Cove Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will begin on Monday at noon and continue up to the time of the service, which will be at 2:00 PM.
