Suzanne Sherman Obituary, Death – A funeral service for Suzanne Sherman was held at The Oaks of Skidaway Island on May 30, 2023. She was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania to Margaret (Stewart) and George Ackinclose on February 1, 1920. She spent many happy summer days as a child at the Chautauqua Institution. Institution, a boarding home her family ran in western New York State. In the early days of the Chautauqua Daily, Suzanne was one of the few women to outsell the men. She also amassed signatures from many famous visitors and lecturers to the Institution, such as John Phillip Sousa, Thomas A. Edison, and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

She became a secretary after finishing her education at Alleghany College and Meadville Business College after graduating from Meadville High School.She tied the knot with Robert A. Sherman, her senior year sweetheart, in 1941. They uprooted to Rochester, New York, not long after. They moved to Skidaway Island’s The Landings (and eventually the Marshes) after retiring there in 1989. Before Bob’s death in 2015, Suzanne and he had been together for 74 years.

Suzanne enjoyed a wide variety of activities, from exploring new places and researching her family tree to creating works of art and solving puzzles like mah-jongg and crosswords. She was a wonderful golfer and bridge player. Both she and Bob were Oak Hill C.C. members in Rochester, New York; Mid-Ocean Country Club, Bermuda; The Landings on Skidaway Island, Georgia; 17th hole, Magnolia Course; 1997.Robert, Suzanne’s husband, and Suzanne’s sister, Janet Talaski, both predeceased her. nephew Lew Savage of Tucson, Arizona; niece Carol Lincoln of Tucson, Arizona; and son-in-law

Grandchildren Jason Sherman, Christopher Sherman, and Margaux (Danny) Corrigan, all of Columbus, Ohio; Jessica (Steven) Alford of Savannah, Ga.; Erica (David) Garcia of New Orleans, La.; great-grandchildren Jack (and Riley), Suzanne (and John), and Erica (and David) Garcia of New Orleans, La. The Ackinclose family plot in Harmonsburg, Pennsylvania will be the last resting place for Suzanne and her husband Bob. She was cared for like family by her longtime caregiver Angel Anthony, her daughter Christy, and the staff at the Oaks.
