Simon Lamas Obituary, Death – The person who was killed in a head-on collision that took place on Highway 119 on May 31 has been recognized by the Kern County Coroner as having been the victim of the incident. At the time of the accident, Simon Fraire Lamas, who was 56 years old, was pronounced dead at the site.
The California Highway Patrol reports that Lamas was driving his truck westbound on the highway just east of Coles Levee Road at around 5:25 a.m. when a pickup truck traveling eastbound on the highway suddenly veered to the left and collided with another pickup truck that was approaching Lamas’ vehicle. Both trucks were traveling westbound on the highway.
It was determined that he had passed away at the scene. Both of the other drivers, including one who lived in Taft, suffered injuries as a result of the accident.
