Robert Hendricks Obituary, Death – We regret to inform you that Life Member Robert Hendricks has passed away. His loss has left a great void in our community. During this trying time, it would be greatly appreciated if you would put Robert’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. On March 18, 2023, Robert Joseph Hendrick, 58 years old and a resident of Montpelier, Virginia, went to be with the Lord. His great-grandparents, Willie and Annie Hendrick, as well as his parents, Donald and Isabelle Hendrick, as well as an uncle, Eugene Hendrick, an aunt, Mary Jane Hendrick, and a niece, Rosemary Hendrick, all passed away before him.

In addition to his best friend and roommate of 22 years, Scott Woolsey, he is survived by his siblings, Nancy Corker (Donald), Connie Hatley (Jeff), Irvin Hendrick (Susan), Pearl Knox (Chic), Lee Hendrick, and Jill Andrews (Norman); 14 nieces and nephews; 30 great nieces and great nephews; and his best friend. Robert was a proud member of the Montpelier Volunteer Fire Company and rescue squad for more than 30 years before he retired after a long career with the Hanover County Public Utilities. He worked there for a number of years before taking his retirement. He had the ability to be extremely forthright and would describe things exactly as he saw them, but he was also a man who had a strong desire to assist other people. Robert held all living creatures in high regard, but his family was his first and foremost priority.

Robert’s younger brother and sister, as well as their uncle, will be greatly missed. On Wednesday, March 22, the family will host a visitation at Bliley’s, located at 8510 Staples Mill Road, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Thursday, March 23, at one o’clock in the afternoon, there will be a memorial service held there in his honor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montpelier Fire Station No. 8 or the American Cancer Society. The cemetery interment will take place in St. Peter’s UMC Cemetery, located at 15599 Mountain Road in Montpelier.
