Peggy Lou Howard Death, Obituary – Peggy Lou Howard, 84, died on May 29, 2023 in Amarillo, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. Peggy, sometimes known as Lou, was born on April 9, 1939, in Amarillo, Texas, as the seventh of nine children to Albert and Reba Sue Seymour.

She attended Canyon Elementary, Junior High, and two years of high school before transferring to Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, where she graduated in 1957. English Literature and Music were her favorite disciplines. She participated in band and orchestra from fifth grade until graduation, and she was a majorette her senior year. She went on to work at the Amarillo Globe News, where she had a column called Peggy’s Prowlings.

She then made her way to California where she wed Bobby Lee Howard. In the Marine Corps, Bobby served. They relocated back to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Amarillo, Texas, after his release. Jodi Lynn and Karla Evonne, their two daughters, were born. She carried on hula dancing, singing, and writing songs. On many of Ray Ruff’s records, including A Fool Again, Pledge Of Love, A Dream, and I’m Qualified, she and her two sisters Pete and Patti contributed backup vocals.

She eventually started working with Sam Marmaduke at Western Merchandisers, which later changed its name to Hastings. She then relocated with Karla to Farmington, Arkansas, where she started working for Campbell’s Soup. She was also a resident of Hot Springs and Mena, Arkansas. She later returned to Amarillo, then to Dublin, Stephenville, Granbury, Canyon, and Plainview before permanently relocating to Amarillo. Lou was a movers and shakers!!!

Her parents, two brothers, and three sisters predeceased her. Peggy is survived by daughters Jodi Davis and husband Mike and Karla Lemarr and husband Larry; grandchildren Martie Smith and husband Roderick, Mia Rose and Pong T., Joshua Rose and wife Tina, Joel Switzer and wife Ella, Mika Davis, Jason Lemarr, Ryan Lemarr and wife Tasha, and Dillon Lemarr; 13 great-grandchildren Brandon, Nathen, Mason, Braden, Talia, Makhia, Isaiah, Calillian,
