Naidia Smith Obituary, Death – Our hearts go out to you and your family on the passing of Private First Class Naidia Smith, who was a member of the 273rd Military Police Company of the District of Columbia Army National Guard (DCARNG). Please accept our sincerest sympathies. The family of Smith will be holding a homegoing ceremony on Monday, June 3, at 11:00 a.m. at the University Park Church of Christ located at 6420 Adelphi Road in Hyattsville, Maryland 20782. This event is open to participation from any and all Capital Guardians that are currently active. This month, the DCARNG will also be hosting a memorial ceremony in Smith’s honor as part of their celebrations.
Smith began her career in the armed forces by enlisting in the Indiana Army National Guard in September 2010, during her senior year of college. This was her first experience in the military. She attended Valparaiso University, which is situated in the state of Indiana, and earned a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the institution in May of 2011. After joining the DCARNG for the first time in December 2012, Smith was immediately elevated to the role of team leader at the specialist level during his first day on the job. During her time in the military, she has served in a number of different capacities, including the 275th Military Police Company and the Recruiting and Retention Battalion.
During the course of Smith’s career, she served as an assistant for a resilience trainer, won the Gold German Proficiency Badge, was honored with the Physical Fitness Award, and maintained the highest Army Physical Fitness Test score in the 372nd Military Police Battalion for a significant amount of time. In addition, she was presented with these accolades. Everyone who worked closely with Smith will remember her for her unyielding dedication to the purpose, her dogged drive, the leadership she displayed, the connections she forged, and her infectious smile.
