Michael Nelson Obituary, Death – On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Michael Charles Nelson, Sr., 67, who was a resident of Morley, passed away at his residence. He called the town of Morley his home. It was in the city of Reed City, in the state of Michigan, that he entered the world on July 20th, 1955. Ralph and Bernice (Crissman) Nelson were his father and mother, respectively. Before she was married, his mother continued to go by her maiden name, which was Crissman. Mike has spent his entire childhood in the same community, and it was there that he first began his career as an auto mechanic.
He currently still resides there. Students at Morley-Stanwood Elementary School affectionately referred to him as “the Popcorn Man,” and he valued the time he got to spend with his grandchildren. The students at Morley-Stanwood Elementary School lovingly referred to him as “the Popcorn Man. Additionally, they referred to him as “the Popcorn Man.” After the passing of Mike’s first wife, Lois Williams, who passed away in 1978, Mike was forced to deal with his grief on his own. It was on October 4, 1997 that Mike and Laurie Lake exchanged vows, and it would appear that she is still with us today.
On Saturday, April 29, 2023, at one o’clock in the afternoon, funeral services will be held at the Crossroads Worship Center in Howard City, which is located at 9530 Federal Road; the day and time have not yet been determined. There has been no decision made regarding the timing or date of the services as of yet. Pastor James Smith is going to preside over the service that is going to take place.
On Saturday, beginning at 11:30 in the morning, members of Mike’s family will be present at the church to greet and converse with anyone who stop by. Donations can be made to his family in his memory in order to be acknowledged, and they can also be left at the memorial in his name to be acknowledged there. The Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids is in charge of providing care for the deceased as well as preparing the funeral services at this time.
