Matthew Boone Obituary, Dunn, NC, Interim City Manager Dies at 40

Matthew Boone Obituary, Death – After suffering an untimely heart attack on Wednesday evening, Mathew Boone, who was serving as the interim city manager of Dunn, passed tragically at his residence. At that time, he was well into his forties. When people heard about his dying early on Thursday morning, there was a widespread outpouring of grief around the city.

Matthew Scott Boone, who was 51 years old at the time, disappeared without a trace on February 20, 2023. On Memorial Day, May 30, 1971, he was brought into the world at Oak Ridge Hospital by his parents, Scott Boone and Lisa Boone. His birthday is May 30. His accomplishment of graduating from Columbia Central High School in Brooklyn, Michigan in 1989 and Holbert Welding School in 1990 brought him one step closer to realizing his dream of being a first-class welder. Both of these educational institutions can be found in the great state of Michigan.

Matt made the decision to go back to Oak Ridge in 2002 so that he could be more conveniently located to his family. Because of his skill in welding, he was able to keep a string of successful employment records in the area. Matt was famous for his quick wit and chuckle that could make anyone feel better. His second interest was fishing, and he was known for his excellent BBQ skills. Riding his motorcycle brought him a great deal of enjoyment.

Matt is survived by his wife, Brittney Fry Boone; his stepdaughter, Nyla Whalen; his parents, Scott and Lisa Boone; his sister, Jennifer Boone; his niece, Rylee Hughes; his dog, Cash; treasured friends Rocky Thompson, Dave Thomas, Whitey, “Mofo,” and John Boes; and a host of other friends and family members from all over the country. Matt passed away on April 15, 2019. The passing of Matt occurred on April 15, 2019.
