Margaret Carney Obituary, Death – On June 5, 2023, Margaret M. Carney, the 77-year-old wife of Henry L. Carney, III, passed away in the comfort of her own home with her devoted family members at her side. Margaret Mathews was born on September 25, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York. Her parents, William and Marie Mathews, passed away before she was born, thus she spent her childhood in West Haven, Connecticut. She retired in 2013 after having served as a court clerk in the Derby Superior Court for the previous 30 years.
Her family was her first and foremost passion, and she especially cherished the time she got to spend with her eight grandchildren and one great grandson. Margaret took pleasure in caring for others, going shopping, and cooking. Her Thanksgiving Dinner, Lasagna, and Ambrosia were the things that made her renowned. She was a beautiful wife and mother who was there for her family whenever they required her assistance. She was always there for them.
Peggy is survived by her son, Shawn P. Carney (Emily) and their children, Rebecca Carney and Julia Carney all of Naugatuck; her son, Henry L. Carney, IV (Alissa) and their children, Henry L. Carney V (Carla), Abbey Carney, Hannah Carney, Ashlyn Arcuri and Andrew Arcuri all of Naugatuck; her sister, Kathi Proctor (David) of Reading, Massachusetts; sisters in law, In addition, Margaret leaves behind a cherished great-grandchild named Henry L. Carney, VI as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Campane, as well as her brothers, William Mathews and John Mathews, and her sister-in-law, Patricia Ventura. She was also the only surviving member of her immediate family.
At 10 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, June 17, 2023, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church, which is located at 318 Church Street in Naugatuck. Everyone who plans on going is kindly requested to assemble promptly at the church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, which is located at 82 Fairview Avenue in Naugatuck. There are no calling hours scheduled at this time.
