June Chesney Death, Obituary – POP was heartbroken to learn of the passing of former Portglenone resident June Chesney from Portrush yesterday. June and her late husband William and family were regular customers at the Wild Duck Inn when I worked there in the 1970s and 1980s. June was a charming lady who always talked softly and, like William, had excellent etiquette and was very intriguing to talk to.
June lived on the hill at the top of the Ballynafie road, where she had an antiques and jewelry shop with her daughter Lorraine. June relocated to Portrush after William’s death to be closer to Lorraine and her son-in-law David. I met June at The Port a few years ago, and she greeted me with that amazing smile.
I’d want to express my heartfelt condolences to her daughter Lorraine, grandchildren Max and Rio, son-in-laws David and George, and the entire Chesney family during this difficult time. When I think of June, I also think of her late husband William and late daughter Jeanine.
June’s family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Royal Portrush Golf Club on Wednesday at 3 p.m., followed by light refreshments.
