Jerry Torres Obituary, Death – Juan Gerardo Torres, AKA Jerry passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 11, 2022, with his mother and loving wife by his side. Jerry battled brain cancer for six months surrounded by lots of love from his family and friends. Jerry was born on November 30, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to Jerry and Elida Torres, the family moved to San Antonio when he was only three years old. He was the eldest of seven children and took his role as a big brother very seriously. As a young boy, Jerry worked many jobs alongside his father to support his family.
In 1969, Taco Haven was started by his parents; he was only twelve years old. Jerry loved the business and excelled in it. He loved the customers, the community, and working with “La Familia.” Additionally, he also had a special love for music and enjoyed booking all kinds of bands and different genres of music for the restaurant. No matter the kind of music, he enjoyed a good drink, a dance or two, and a good time. Jerry also had a love for a baseball, where he played alongside many of his lifelong friends in high school and in The Spanish American League. He had a personality bigger than life to match his smile and sense of humor. Jerry lived by his favorite motto “I am who I am.” Jerry was truly one of a kind. He is loved and missed so much by so many of his friends and family. Jerry has accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. We will see him again.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Torres Sr., and his brother, Mark Antonio Torres. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Olga Torres; his mother, Elida Torres; brothers, David Torres, Tomas Torres, Reggie Torres; sisters, Patricia Torres and Isabel Hartfield; sons, Jerry Torres III, Phillip Torres, Anthony (Lupe) Torres, Aaron (Meghan) Torres; daughters, Rebecca Torres and Rosanna (Ryan) Ladson; father and mother-in-law Raul and Minerva Inclan; 17 granchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many numerous nieces and nephews.
