The incident occurred in Adelanto. At the scene of the collision on Highway 395, medical personnel pronounced the individual deceased. According to the office of the coroner, he was recognized as Gabriel Duran, who was 19 years old and from Adelanto. Between Rancho Road and Adelanto Road, Duran was operating a Chevrolet pickup truck from 1999 while traveling north on Highway 395.

According to officials from the Sheriff’s Office, he made a turn onto the southbound lane for reasons that are still unknown. The pickup truck was involved in a head-on collision with a 2010 Toyota Tundra that was pulling a boat and was occupied by five individuals. The collision took place on Monday evening about 10:55 o’clock. Both trucks sustained significant front-end damage as a result of the collision, and both vehicles came to a stop in the southbound lane of the highway after the collision. The only person that was in Duran’s truck with him was himself.

Hospitalization was necessary for four out of the Tundra’s five residents at one point. All four people who required medical assistance were sent to separate trauma centers; three of them were listed in critical condition and were taken by helicopter.
