Fili Matua Obituary, Death – Fili Matua, a cherished member of the Matua family who served as a son, brother, father, uncle, nephew, and cousin, passed away on April 2, 2010 in Waianae, Hawaii. Kepi was born in Apia, Upolu, Samoa to Faleupolu Utai Matua and Tagomoa L. Matua. Kepi is the seventh child out of a total of eight. After completing his primary and secondary education in Samoa, he traveled to Utah and enrolled at the Hunter High School. Kepi brought happiness to the lives of everyone he knew and was a bright spot in those lives.
Exodus, who is survived by his father Kepi and his mother Alavina Vaituu, was the source of great pride and happiness for Kepi. He is survived by his father, his sisters Teuila (Ivor) Filiaga, Mandy (Bryant) Masina, Annette (Jason) Rivera, and Theresa (Viliami) Vakapuna, as well as his brothers Eddie (Kelli) Matua, Seti (Jennifer), and Darius Matua. His brothers Eddie (Kelli) Matua and Seti (Jennifer) Matua are married. His mother, Faleupolu Fetalai, his grandparents, and a great number of other family members and friends all passed away before he did.
He counted his numerous close friends and family members among his blessings. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the building that houses the West Jordan River 7th Ward at 7350 S. 1300 W. At the church building, there will be a get-together for the family that day, beginning at nine in the morning and continuing until eleven in the morning.
