Dwight Fenton Suicide, Death, Obituary – A death has occurred in the family of the founder and owner of Kooks & Groms LLC, doing business as STOKE ACK. His untimely passing has caused the community of Nantucket, Massachusetts to be in mourning. The tragic event allegedly took place a week ago following an alleged altercation between the Dartmouth College alumni and an unidentified third party.
This information comes from a friend of the family. The death of the Brunswick and Greenwich High School graduate was reportedly the result of an attempted suicide, though this information cannot be confirmed. According to the report, he shot himself in the head and was pronounced dead after the incident. Dwight Fenton, who worked as the Vice President of Design for Bonobos and came from one of the most affluent and privileged families in the country, was a tall, dark-haired, and handsome man.
The graduate of Dartmouth who was born in Greenwich, Connecticut worked as a designer for Vineyard Vines before joining the design team at J. Crew during the time that Todd Snyder was serving as CEO and Mickey Drexler was running the company. My go-to online destination for timeless essentials that exude a hip Williamsburg-inspired “splitting logs while sifting artisanal whiskey in my selvage denim” vibe is rapidly evolving into Bonobos. Now, hurry up and get your Mast Brothers candy bars, because we have some shopping to do!
This week, Bonobos is releasing a catalog of suits, which elevates their already impressive selection of all-American clothing to an entirely new level. I went to the Bonobos studio to have a conversation with Dwight and to do some shopping at their Guideshop, which allows customers to try on clothing prior to making an online purchase. My legal name is actually Dwight F. Davis IV, and “Peter” is just a nickname. I don’t know why my family didn’t give me a name that was more appropriate, like Spike, but they didn’t.
Dwight Fenton opened STOKE ACK in 2021 after spending many years working for larger brands such as Patagonia, Old Navy, Vineyard Vines, J Crew, Bonobos, and Free Assembly. He did so with the intention of creating something smaller and more personal that made use of both his professional and personal experiences. STOKE ACK is a fresh and forward-thinking retail concept that brings together genuine surf culture, environmental responsibility, and the most cutting-edge emerging brands from that region.
Among other clothing companies, I’ve held leadership positions at Patagonia, Old Navy, Vineyard Vines, J Crew, Bonobos, Altitude Basecamp (Walmart E-comm), and Free Assembly (Walmart). I have a lot of experience in the field of fashion design. Over the course of the past few years, I have worked my way up through the ranks to become both the Chief Creative Officer and the President of the Brand. When I am in charge of a brand from beginning to end, which includes coming up with ideas as well as putting those ideas into action, I feel the happiest and I am the most productive.
