In the presence of her loved ones, Dorothy Bispham Curtiss Maryott died away peacefully on May 30, 2023 (this time for real). She is survived by her children Doug & Trish Maryott, Deborah & Erik McGaughey, and their children Emily, Zach, and Charlie. She is also survived by her grandkids.
Dottie was a woman ahead of her time (since you are only addressed by your given name when you are in trouble). She is the niece of renowned author Ruth Plumley Thompson, who supported her motherless upbringing in the years following the Great Depression. She overcame early-onset botulism (not the kind you choose to have).
Dottie was awarded a four-year scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania, where she majored in English Literature and played varsity lacrosse.
