Donna K. Christian Obituary, Death – Remembering with Love and Respect Donna K. Christian The unexpected passing of our event chairwoman, Donna Christian, is something that the Relay For Life of Montgomery County Event Leadership Committee must announce with deep regret. In the battle against cancer, Donna was a ferocious advocate for patients. Her devotion to the work of the American Cancer Society (ACS) began many years ago, when she had already been a Relayer for a considerable amount of time.
Her reasons for participating in Relay for Life have grown over the years as she has formed ties with members of the community that she is glad to call home with others whose lives have been affected by cancer. Tonight, we participated in the fundraiser that was planned to take place at Sandro’s. What was supposed to be an otherwise joyous occasion turned out to be a solemn evening instead, during which we made the most of the opportunity to reflect on our sadly missed friend who had passed away.
In spite of the fact that our first instinct was to call off the event, we ultimately decided that continuing forward would be the most fitting way to memorialize Donna. It was almost as if we could hear her voice saying, “Cancer doesn’t stop, and neither will we,” which is something we had heard her say a lot. Her wonderful family that she leaves behind to remember her memory is also grieving her loss at the same time as her Relay family does. As further information becomes available to us regarding memorial services and other ways to celebrate Donna’s life,
it will be posted on this page as it becomes available. In the meanwhile, we ask that you please keep her family, as well as the family and friends of everyone associated with Relay, in your thoughts and prayers. Regards, and best wishes in the fight against cancer, The Event Leadership Committee for the Relay For Life held in Montgomery County
