Declan Barr Obituary, Death – Declan “Decy” Barr passed away this morning, and the entire Donegal Town FC community is inconsolably heartbroken by the news. Today, we are in a state of mourning over the loss of an incredible person who exemplified the genuine ethos of our football club. Declan’s journey with us began when he was only three years old and he proudly served as our club mascot. This was the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship. From that point on, he developed into an amazing player, setting an example for others to follow while playing on the field as he moved up through our youth ranks and finally into our senior squad,
which he led for a number of years throughout his time with us. The occasions on which Declan felt the most pride were when his three daughters, following in his footsteps, joined our organization and became treasured members. He beamed with satisfaction as he observed them put on Town shirts after our just established underage females setup, which made him very happy. Exactly two weeks ago, Declan was at the Hospital Field to support his daughter Katie as she played for our girls’ team. Declan cheered on his daughter as she took the field.
Everyone who knew Declan found themselves filled with joy and laughter as a result of his contagious sense of humor and enormous smile. His presence brought joy to both our club and our lives, and he left an unforgettable impression on the hearts of everyone he met along the way.Declan’s loving wife Laura, his adored kids Ellie, Katie, and Molly, his loyal parents Patsy and May, his brother Martin, his sisters Carol and Lisa, and the rest of Declan’s extended family members and friends have our heartfelt condolences during this time of unimaginable loss.

I pray that the memories you enjoyed with Declan and the love that surrounds him throughout his wonderful journey will serve as a source of solace and strength for you. As a group, we will always treasure the time we were able to spend with Declan, and we will pay tribute to his memory by carrying on in a manner consistent with the principles he cherished.
