Benny Crick Obituary, Death – Benny Crick, who was 93 years old and originally from Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, passed away on June 11, 2023 at the Bailey Manor in Winchester. He was the widower of the late Mary (Daugherty) Crick and was married to her for a total of fifty-four years before she passed away. He was born in Sewanee on September 12, 1929, to the late Charles and Virginia (Barnett) Crick. Benny was a proud veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars, and he served as a Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force before retiring.
After he got back to his hometown, he got a job at the Schwerman Trucking Company as the office manager and stayed there until he retired. He was devoted to his family, whom he cared for and safeguarded, and even when he retired, he never stopped looking for opportunities to assist others and provide a hand. Benny practiced the Episcopalian faith in his daily life. Benny Oglesby is survived by his grandchildren, Ben (Jennifer Long) Oglesby, Susan Oglesby Chavez, Laura Oglesby, and Justin Oglesby; his great-granddaughter, Harriett Oglesby; his sisters, Jean Bean and Dot Davidson; and a large number of very beloved nieces and nephews.
Benny’s daughter Patricia Oglesby, son Kenneth King, sister Patsy Bradford, brother Tommy Crick, and beloved brother-in-law Clyde Daugherty all passed away before him, joining his wife and his parents in the afterlife. Benny was also predeceased by his parents. On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm Central Standard Time (CST), there will be a service held at the graveside of Fairview Memorial Gardens in Huntsville, Tennessee.
