Antoinette Carpinteri Obituary – Antoinette “Toni” Borrello, age 90, a resident of Carpinteria, California, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. Tony’s Italian Restaurant in Carpinteria was originally established by Antoinette “Toni” Borrello and the couple’s late husband, Tony. She was the daughter of the late Vincente Ramirez and Ambrosia Ramirez, and she was born on July 7th, 1923 in the city of Scottsdale, Arizona. In 1938, Toni and her family made the move from Ventura to Carpinteria.
Toni was a woman of great compassion and love who also put in a lot of effort. She made the decision to devote her life to serving the Lord and assisting individuals who were struggling financially. By demonstrating what it means to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ in her daily life, she served as a spiritual role model for her children and grandkids. Her life served as an illustration of the phrase “me last and others first.”
During her younger years, she had a lot of fun being a member of the American Business Women’s Association and offering her time to assist Army soldiers who were fighting in the war. She also found great satisfaction in helping people in need. She had a firm conviction that women should be given equal opportunities in the business and the classroom. She read a lot and enjoyed it. Her go-to genres for reading were biographies and historical accounts. In addition to that, she was an avid traveler.
It was in 1954 when she first laid eyes on her future husband, Anthony “Tony” Borrello. In 1962, they launched their first establishment in the form of Tony’s Italian Restaurant, which was located in Carpinteria. It is accessible to the public even now. During the course of their careers, Tony and Toni owned and operated three different Italian restaurants in the Santa Barbara County area. They made an outstanding group effort.
Toni was able to persevere through all of life’s difficulties thanks to her unwavering faith. Her love for her family was boundless and unwavering, and she would do anything for them. Every space that Toni entered was illuminated by her radiant grin and infectious laughter. Toni possessed a compassionate heart, a ferocious mind, and a courageous spirit. Her descendants are the ones who will carry on her heritage.
Toni Borrello is survived by her sister, Lucy Bellant; her children, Michael (Lucy) Borrello, Anna (William) de la Rosa, Susan (Dan) Dubé, Carla (Frank) Ramirez, and daughter-in-law, Linda Borrello; grandchildren Ashley, Anthony, Michael Paul, Christopher, Theresa, Guillermo, Bernadette, Alexandrea, Danny, Francesca, Christopher, Natalie, and Angelina; and
Everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her will miss her in a profound way after her passing. There will be visitation from 1 till 8 o’clock in the evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 9, at 11:30 a.m. at the Welch-Ryce-Haider Funeral Chapels, which are located at 15 E. Sola Street in Santa Barbara. The event will take place on Saturday, August 10, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, which is located at 1532 Linden Avenue in Carpinteria.
