Anthony Perkins Obituary, Death – Anthony Eugene “Tony” Perkins, age 52, of Kewanee, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the OSF Saint Luke Medical Center in Kewanee. He was taken there by ambulance. Cremation will be carried out, but there are currently no plans for any services to be held. At a later time, cremains will be interred at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee following a private ceremony. The arrangements are being taken care of by the Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee.
His birth date is August 31, 1970, and his adoptive parents are Larry and Sharon (Aubry) Perkins. He was born in Peoria. He received his elementary education at Visitation, his secondary education at Wethersfield, and his post secondary education at Black Hawk East Community College. He participated in a variety of sports at school as well as in city baseball leagues. Between the ages of 6 and 18, he participated on the Kewanee YMCA Swim Team.
Tony married Julie Marie Gibson on March 28, 2000 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Kewanee, and she passed away on September 6, 2021. Their wedding took place on March 28, 2000. His parents and six of his siblings are among the survivors. His parents and grandparents had passed away before he was born. For the past 23 years, he has been employed at Menards in Kewanee as a contract representative. He was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed activities such as boating, fishing, camping, and swimming.
He also enjoyed working with wood. Tony established Julie’s Toy Drive after the demise of his wife in order to make certain that children in the community received gifts for the holiday season. Over the course of the past two years, Tony has transformed their house into Santa’s Workshop and played the role of Santa Claus for a large number of youngsters. The drive for toys will go on as planned. Donations in Julie’s memory can be given to the Toy Drive in her name, and they can be sent to the funeral home.
